The Last of 2023

Time passed and it’s coming to the end of 2023.

What have I achieved so far?

I have changed my job last year and now I have been working in Singapore Institute of Management for almost 2 years (2 more months to 2 years). Life has been good to me. We went for a few holidays, Japan in May, Taiwai in August, Europe in November/December and ended my holidays by attending a wedding in Hanoi.

Let’s probably begin sharing from beginning of the year?

Home Improvement Program (HIP) took place in Mar/Apr’23 and we had to move our cats to our friends’ house because it’s gonna be dirty and dusty at home. And thank God for their help, we managed to get through the difficult part. Totally in love with the new kitchen!

New kitchen! 😍

We went to Japan for 10 days during the HIP. And it’s been awhile since we went for a holiday since COVID. We spent a good 10 days in Tokyo.

1) Went to have our Ichiran Ramen

2) Went to Hakone

3) Went to TeamLab Planets

4) Went to Monster Hunter Cafe

5) Went to Mipig Cafe

6) Went to Disneyland

And other many other places! And also we made a new friend in the homestay we were staying.

Work has been busy and I am in the Recreational Committee this year. And we planned for the SIM Family Day. This year we went to the new opened Bird Paradise!

Bird Paradise Waterfall

Maiden trip with Vivien to Taipei! This time is to catch Hebe Tien’s concert! So glad that we managed to get her concert ticket! We had truly enjoyed ourselves with the eating and shopping although it was a short trip.

Celebrated my birthday with my favourite people! 😘🥰

My ex-colleagues from NUS ISS and my lgg~

Then it’s our long awaited Europe trip! It’s filled with excitement, anxiety, fun and laughter! Seeing snow for the first time, and it became our nightmare when the train was disrupted, day trip to the Disney castle cancelled because of the road condition and we almost couldn’t make it to Salzburg due to train disruption.

Took Business Class for the first time! I couldn’t ask for more. It was the best experience I had (except when the yoghurt splashed onto my clothes and hair) and there is a hole in the luggage. Experienced snow for the first time and of course we gotta build a snowman!
There were many people at the train station waiting for the train to Salzburg. But sadly, the train was cancelled the whole day, and we have to make a last minute hotel reservation nearby the train station so we can rest for the night and make plan on the alternative route to Salzburg. Thank God! We managed to book a bus (but we have to split into 2 groups because of the limited number of bus tickets)
No photos in Salzburg because we were literally there for a night, and we moved on to St Anton the next day. We were in luck when we were told there will be a Devil’s Parade at St Anton. It was scary and funny that we were laughing and screaming at the same time when the devil came to us and whipping us. After that, we moved on to Luzern! And a passerby came and join in our group photo! How funny is that!
Then it’s time for the mountains! Went to Mt Titlis for some spectacular view. Explore the area around our hotel and we head to Interlaken. Paragliding was cancelled due to bad weather, so lgg improvised his own paragliding. And he also finally tried the cheese fondue.
Went to Lauter Brunnen and it was drizzling. So we just walk around, took some photos and head back for the day. Finally went to Jungfraujoch – Top of Europe! It’s freezing cold -14 degrees outside and the snow was like literally slapping our face and the fear of falling down the slope. But we truly enjoyed the magneficient view!
Time for another mountain! This time, it’s the Matterhorn! We almost thought we won’t be able to see the mountain because it was cloudy when we reached, and the train was disrupted due to strong wind. Lucky we had a long brunch, and by the time we wanted to leave, the train resumed again! The magneficient view of the mountain.
Moving on to Montreux and finally see the flying Santa LIVE! We went to Bern old town, it was beautiful. And we totally forgotten that bears hibernates in winter so we can only take photo with the bear figurines. And then we went to Zurich. Visited many Christmas Markets this trip. And I am loving it!

Everyone in Europe that we met are really nice! There was a guy who told me the entrance of the hotel while we were standing at the traffic light. There was a lady who offered to help us take a group photo. We are definitely very blessed. After our Europe trip, we went to Hanoi for my lovely friends’ wedding! I am so happy for them!

After touching down from Switzerland, we quickly head back home and re-pack our luggage for Hanoi. By the time we reached hotel was around 7ish pm, so we head out for dinner and a massage and then rest for the night. The next day was our friend’s wedding. And bumped into Jessie Hoo and Wankey! Stay blissful my friends! I love you guys! Thanks for having us!
Joined in the after wedding party. It was new experience (never clubbed in Vietnam before). It was always great to catch up with old friends and/or colleagues. We will probably be back in Hanoi since we spent most of the time sleeping (due to jetlag and shag-ness from the Europe trip). Then it’s back home to our cats!

Really thankful for colleagues who covered me during my long holidays. And I wish everyone best in health and wealth in the coming new year!

Updates?

It’s been a while!

It’s been a while since I last updated this blog. Have I been busy? Lazy? I don’t know.

Many things happened since December 2020. Had the 1st surgery in my life to remove Polyps, Endometrosis and fibroids. And I almost died. That was one scary experience, and I am very thankful today that I am still alive and kicking.

I had my surgery on 21 Decemberr 2020, and I spent the next 2 weeks in the hospital. The surgery went pretty well according to my gynae. But I wasn’t feeling too good after the surgery. I vomitted and they took a x-ray of my lungs, and then they told us I got pneumonia. I was transferred from Thomson Medical Center to Mt Elizabeth Novena in the middle of the night on my 2nd/3rd night in the hospital. And I was incubated for a few days. When I finally regain my consicious, the nurse told me it’s 28 December 2020. And then, the next moment I woke up, it was 31 December 2020. I spent my new year with diarrhoe (the whole night). Finally discharged on 06 Jan 2021.

Warded in ICU with fever. Taken on 31 December 2020.
Finally discharged and got my 1st cup of BBT which i had craving

I am very thankful because some of my friends and family members came to visit me while I was in the hospital. Those who didnt visit me at the hospital sent me their regards with more tonics and some of them even came to my house to visit me. I have very caring colleagues, and my CEO even WA me! This really took me by surprise. So I am definitely feeling the love, care and concern they showered me. Most importantly, I have a husband who stands by me, taking care of me when I was too weak. Thank you everybody! 🙂

Gotten my 1st Chanel bag from the caring husband. ❤
Got a wallet for myself.
Got our 1st furkid – Xixi Teo

It has been a fulfilling 2021. Work wise, I got a promotion and increment! This came as a surprise for me. But I have to move on, hence, I resigned and will be starting my new job tomorrow. Hopefully, everything will be good!

Updates on my babies~

Aloha! It’s been a while since I updated my blog.

My Baluku died; I put him to sleep. Why? Because I transferred in 2 mini puffer fishes from my shrimp tank. And the mini puffer fishes was feeding on my poor little Baluku’s fins/tail. By the time noticed it, it was too late. It looked like his fins and tail are rotting. And I can’t bear to see him suffer anymore, so we decided to put him to sleep. It was the toughest decision I had to make, and execute. I was crying my lungs out while carrying the process. I am filled with guilt every time I look at his photo. Why didn’t I take out the puffer fish earlier? WHY?

My beautiful goldfishes

Following the death of my beloved Baluku, 220 died on the night of mooncake festival. He fell sick. He had some white dots on him, we took him out and place him in QT, and he just… died.. My heart broke into million pieces.

220 fell sick, and the white spot was covering his face. So we took him out and placed him in QT. And his body was upright when we found him not moving (mouth and fins not moving)
And, I was crying my lungs out when I took him out of the tank. 😥

Isnt 220 cute? I love him to bits!
Also to update on my shrimp tank. We have upgraded my little shrimp tank to a 3 feet tank. And we are rearing Sulawesi shrimps + some neocardinal shrimps.
This was my little perfect 9 (photo taken in September). And then, 220 died in October. 😦
And it totally seemed like the bright light on the other side is attracting my goldfishes. They hang around at this corner for quite a while. Aren’t they cute?
This one of my new addition in September. His name is 180. He’s kinda crazy when it’s feeding time, so sometimes, I will call him sot sot (which means crazy)
This is our 2nd addition. His name is call Chao Ta (which means burnt). We bought quite a few Thai Ranchus before, and sadly, none of them survived.
White Socks
Black King Kong
White Orchid
Snowball
Fire Red
White Socks

I made some changes to the shrimp tank. I transferred all the neocardinals to my goldfish tanks. In order to cull the wild color shrimps. Some sacrifices has to be made. I will buy more snowball when I am done with culling the wild-lings in my shrimp tank.

Psssttt, the shrimp photos are taken with a macro lens that I bought recently. I hope I will be able to take more stunning photos of my shrimps and goldfishes. I will share more pictures in my next post. Do keep a lookout!

Shrimps!

It’s hardwork Sunday! We redo the shrimp tank from using sand to soil.

It was good with white sand, but you know, shrimps shit too. So their shit are so obvious in the sand. And remember the previous post I mentioned about the sudden death of my shrimps?

In order to find out the death of my shrimps, my friend suggested that I separate the crayfish and shrimps. So I did what he say. I moved it to a small container. And tada! We found the culprit. It was the crayfish afterall. We reckon it was hungry because it didnt wanna eat the crab food that we put in, so end up attacking the shrimps.

Initially, I thought, ‘Yay! It’s finally eating!’ But no, it only touched it for a few seconds then it stopped.
And the next day, I woke up and found the other crayfish dead.

I was thinking, one crayfish shed shell and the other crayfish did not. So the one that have shed shell must have murdered his friend. Hunger. Hunger makes one crazy. So my crayfish has became a murderer. Murdered shrimps and crayfish, its own kind.

So I kept it as a prisoner. As a punishment for murdering shrimps and crayfish.
Living a good life now.
Emptying the sand in process.
Moved the shrimps to the small container while we redo the setup.
Empty the sand, washed the tank and put in the soil. And final step is to start filling up water!
Done! And I think it looks perfect now. For now.
And the crayfish is kept as a prisoner in the shrimp tank. 🤭
Bought 5 new shrimps, blue shrimps.

And since we redo the shrimp tank, I supposed we have recycle the tank. And lets hope that the shrimps will all survive.

Hope he gets better after seeing vet.

Andddd! We are going to bring Baluku to vet tomorrow. It seems like he couldn’t move. Ciaos!

元宵。 Last day of Lunar New Year!

As you all know, Singapore’s DORSCON yellow have turned Orange as of 07 Feb 2020. 😣 And I heard, everyone was in the panic mode, stocking up food (esp can food, maggie mee, rice etc) and even toiletries (esp toilet paper rolls, hand wash and tissue papers are sold out everywhere). All I saw was post and post of Singaporean’s kiasu-ness online. But since I went to Don Don Donki to buy some meat for steamboat gathering on Saturday, I didn’t get to see the exaggerating reaction from fellow Singaporeans. That was Friday.

So it was Saturday yesterday, and I still need to buy some food (fresh food items, and lucky these cannot keep for long. Otherwise I dont think I stand a chance to buy since I only head to the supermarket at 3plus in the afternoon) for the steamboat. The queue for payment was extremely long. What was disheartening to see is, seeing baskets and baskets of food (which includes food item from the freezer, fridge) lying around on the floor. I wanna buy a small can of luncheon meat also don’t have. WHY ARE YOU PEOPLE DEPRIVING PEOPLE LIKE ME FROM GETTING FOOD? I don’t store food at home, just so you know.

Baskets lying around, Rice section only left brown rice. And some more premium rice.

I mean, you guys are adults. Have some common sense please? There is no need to stock up food because life still goes on during DORSCON Orange. It doesn’t mean it’s the end of the world. It doesn’t mean you cannot go out. It doesn’t mean hawkers, wet markets, supermarkets, shopping malls are closed during this period of time. And, WHY do you wanna create more work for those working in supermarket? It’s not an easy job since everyone is rushing to stock up food at home, and they have to keep restocking items on the shelves for you selfish and kiasi idiots, and now they have to walk around and put back all those stuffs that YOU IRRESPONSIBLE PEOPLE left behind in basket or trolley. You all seriously buay paiseh one meh?

Do you think that 2019-nCoV only affects you? ANYONE could have gotten it. ANYONE. If you have been reading news, you should know that there are cases whereby people are tested positive with 2019-nCoV even without going China or have any close contacts with those affected. So stop acting like it only affect you. Please don’t create unnecessary panic amongst us. Please don’t do stupid things like this. You know 2019-nCoV can be cured. I just don’t know if stupidity can. Even if you don’t die from 2019-nCoV, maybe you will die from eating too much unhealthy can food. 😑

Just want to remind everyone, you just need to have good hygiene practice. Wash hands with soap, reduce unnecessary hand shake, dont go touching your face, eyes and nose after touching something, take note of your personal temperature and don’t report to work if you are unwell. Wear a mask if you are unwell (if you are at home, no need to wear mask you know right? Just isolate yourself, don’t waste mask) and there is a need to go out; to see a doctor. Everyone has a part to do. Right? Protect others = Protect yourself.

Taken from CNA website.

Enough of the 2019-nCoV. Lucky for me, I was able to buy some prawns (to make prawn paste). But I realized, it’s more expensive now. Considering the current food situation. I bought 10 tiger prawns (around 400g) for SGD$11 on Tuesday, the same prawn I bought on Saturday cost me SGD$13 for 8 tiger prawns (around 380g). 😣

This is how my final product looks like. Around 380g of tiger prawns.
Added ingredients: salt, pepper, sesame oil, and Tobiko
(this time I have forgotten about adding corn flour😆)
I gotten my partial recipe from this youtube video. In the video, they also added egg white, shao xing wine and ginger juice (which I can’t find). So I only add the basics. It still taste very nice lah. 😊

And I am glad we managed to pull a feast for our 元宵 party last night. And I am excited because my friend gave me some black, blue and wine red shrimps as well as some crayfishes. 😊 It’s really nice to have friends who happened to have same hobby!

My 2nd family and my ‘Laogong’s’ friend, Melvin and Daphne.
Thanks for coming over and help me fix my gundam! And giving me shrimps and crayfish! 😘
And pardon for my ugly look, because who wears makeup at home? 😅

The shrimps in my main tank seems to be striving pretty well, and we see quite a bit of baby shrimps coming out for food. And each time I watch them, my heart was pumping very fast because the fishes are always so close to them.

And now that my Pearlscale goldfish, Baluku, seems to have swim bladder problem, we started giving it salt water treatment and hopefully it will get better. The last pearly I had, died from it. 😭 And just now I checked, he’s gotten red tummy. And I think probably because the tummy is sticking outside water. I hope he get well soon. Cause, I really love him.

So long….

H’s been a long time since I last update this blog and here I Am again.. I still love to blog about my life.

Staycation at Festive~

Last Friday started really well with free breakfast from Lawrence.

Different style of burger. And where did he bought it from? No idea. Perhaps I will ask him and post it here soon! That’s if I remember. 😛

Then it’s staycation time! This time round at Festive Hotel. 🙂

We reached RWS and register our stay at about 1pm, then we head off to look for this Malaysian Food Street located somewhere in RWS (it’s near the USS) because the room won’t be ready till 3p.m.

https://fbcdn-sphotos-g-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-snc7/386499_10151166197537807_451564219_n.jpg

Tried the prawn noodle. The soup is filled with the prawn’s fragrance.

After our lunch, we went to the S.E.A Aqarium to purchase the entrance ticket for the World’s Largest Oceanarium. LOL. We didn’t go since the ticket is valid for 6 months from the date of purchase and it would be a little rushing for us since Dearest will be heading to his company’s D&D around 6plus.

So it’s time for us to queue up at the counter to get our room! The queuing was pretty fast, since there are so many counters. So, the person was telling Dearest something and I couldn’t hear him but I heard the last sentence: “Free upgrade to suite for this time“. We were thrilled.

The view of the room when we stepped in. Even the DOOR of the suit is damn big. Bigger than my house door. HAHA.

Time for room service for my dinner. 🙂 I was feeling so hungry because I was waiting for Super Junior, PSY’s performance and I refused to leave the room in case I miss their performance.

So overall, I enjoyed my stay at the Festive hotel. 🙂

MY birthday Celebrationsssss!

Celebrated my actual birthday with my family and my best friends! We went to Mitzuba located at Central, Clarke Quay, to have dinner.  Went there once with my friend and Dearest, and found their Sashimi is really thick! And I love thick thick sashimi! Bu maybe because I had my Gong Cha before dinner, thus I wasn’t feeling hungry. Geez. And having so many people to celebrate my birthday, I feel very blessed! Dearest couldn’t join us because he has to help out his grandma’s wake.

And silly me, I brought my camera out but then I have left it at the office so I didn’t managed to take any good photos.

The girls bought me this, Zutter Bind-It-All machine, for my birthday. Happy like a bird. 😛

————————————————————————–

Nevertheless, Dearest celebrated my birthday on Saturday! He brought me to Morton’s at Mandarin Oriental.

The service there is excellent. It’s just the steak that we ordered. Mine was a little salty one side, and the other a bit bland. Over all, it’s still alright. Maybe I would prefer Lawy’s since I have tried both. I prefer the one with sauce. 🙂

Bintan Trip~! :)

Went to Bintan during one of the weekend in Feb. It’s my first time there, and I was feeling really excited! Just keep thinking about the fun I am going to have! 😛

Now, Amy and I have wake up really early to catch our ferry at 08:50am, and usually we have to check in at least 1.5 hours before the departure.. Which means.. we have to be there at around 07:20am!! Have to catch some sleep somehow!

From Left to Right: On da way to Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal, the rest of the pictures as you can see.. We are just camwhoring. 🙂

Finally check in! And we have to wait for awhile before we can board the ferry. And because the ferry sheltered area was full, so we went up to the top of the ferry! It’s really cooling there! Not forgetting our messy hair!

Finally~ After almost 2 hours of ferry ride, we FINALLY reached Bintan~!

Guess what? It was raining heavily after me and Amy touch down at the terminal. Thank God for his blessing!

The first place that we went to is: MASSAGE~!!

It’s my first time. *Shy* And I have a mixture feelings of weird and good.

Ladie’s Spa. No.. Not for Ladies only. Hahaha~

We took the shuttle bus to the hotel, and Goodnessss! It looks like some kind of chalet! And this is our room!

We bought some magazines so that we can read and gossip together! Late lunch for us too!

Wanna have some beer? We went down to the beach to take some photos before the high tide comes in!

From left to right: What’s Amy doing to her Ziggie?! And the tides are coming in real fast!

We continue to chill and camwhoring while passing some time before taking the shuttle bus to Argo Beach Resort for our dinner. 🙂

Sun Moon is the place for dinner. It’s nice, just that we couldn’t choose our dinner because it’s fixed!

Played with some fireworks at night.

It’s our first time, so we are feeling so excited.

Breakfast first!

And then camwhoring time.

sun tanning time!

our pets are tanning too!

last meal… at bintan of cos!

goodbye bintan~

hello singapore!
